Tips and Hints for Installing Auto Radiators
For best Results and to prevent premature failure of your new radiator, we strongly recommend that you replace the thermostat and thoroughly flush the cooling system after installation.
1. Allow the system to cool completely before removing the radiator cap.
2. Drain the radiator into a suitable container for proper disposal (anti-freeze is considered as hazardous waste)
3. Disconnect hoses and lines and remove old radiator
4. Open thermostat housing and remove thermostat. Temporarily replace thermostat housing.
5. Thoroughly flush engine through top hose until water runs clear and do same with recovery tank and hose. Draining the radiator only will leave as much as half of the old contaminated coolant in the engine block
6. Install new radiator and new thermostat. Reconnect all hoses and lines.
7. Fill the radiator with a mixture of antifreeze and water (distilled recommended) at a 50/50 ratio. In the coldest climates the ratio can be increased, but never over 70/30.
8. Run the engine at fast idle until thermostat opens. Top off the radiator with antifreeze/water mixture and add mixture to recovery tank to fill line.
